HUMANITARIAN ACTIVITIES

Nimpura Project

The Nimpura Project is active in West Bengal, India in a town ca. 120 km. from Kolkata (Calcutta) where there is a colony of leper sick. Through the on site work of the volunteers of the Association together with a local organization, the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India we aid the local medical supply and the school destined for the education of the children of the infected. We evaluate and support projects to improve the economical conditions of the Leper sick impaired by the mutation typical of Leprosy.  Parallel to this mission which has clear results, A WORLD OF SMILES Onlus is planning the foundation of a special school for the handicapped in this particular area.

Tsunami Project

The
Tsunami disaster of  Christmas 2004 still continues to affect the population of the southern coast of India. A WORLD OF SMILES Onlus  has intervened to support through continuously monitored participation, the activities of the Indian volunteers of the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India immediately organized Rescue groups to aid certain fisher villages hit badly with many casualties and destruction of boats and fisher nets, the only source of income for these families. The initial phase of rescue is terminated, however now the remains of the villages need to be reconstructed and the numerous orphans cared for. A WORLD OF SMILES Onlus wants to build small homes for these families who have taken in orphans considering their unstable economical situations.
Each home costs ca. 200 Euro and would allow a family to confront the torrid Indian summer in better conditions than the usual sheet metal hut, when the temperature rises above 45° C common in India.
